Using your AutCorder

Using your AutCorder #

DA The AutCorder should now be ready for use. To take a picture, press the shutter button. To record audio, just hold the button down and it will keep recording until the button is let go, or a minute has passed. Simple as. Then, depending on the configuration, the AutCorder will send off recordings to a configured messaging client when possible. Note that while plugged in for charging or data transfer, the shutter button wakes up the device for data transfer, and can not be used to take pictures or record audio.

If you’re not in a hurry, leave it plugged in to charge up fully. The amber light on the back will turn off once charged. Depending on its configuration the battery should last somewhere between a few weeks and a month or two. The AutCorders have no switch for turning them off completely (as they need to be in deep sleep to monitor the shutter button), so if you plan on not using it for a long while, you should open it back up and unplug the battery.

Being most useful for sudden, unplanned pictures and recordings, I suggest attaching your AutCorder to something you carry regularly, like on a backpack, a lanyard, or a karabiner:

While the AutCorders have no ingress protection and should therefore be kept away from water, they are pretty rugged and have been known to survive a trip through the washing machine with no functional damage, so they should shake off a bit of rain or pocket sweat without issue.
